SUMMER GOLF VACATIONS

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – “Kids Play Free” is the theme of a summer golf promotion being launched by the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday, and the North Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce.
“This is our first cooperative endeavor, and it’s shaping up to be a great one,” said Diana Greene, vice president of marketing for the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce.
The three organizations are pooling resources to produce an eight-page insert promoting summer golf vacations in the June issue of Golf Magazine. The insert will feature editorial and photos provided by the two chambers and Golf Holiday, along with advertisements for a variety of Myrtle Beach area properties.
The purpose of the special section is to promote summer vacations featuring golf. More than 40 Myrtle Beach area golf courses allow young people ages 16 and younger to play free throughout the summer. A variety of camps, tournaments, clinics, and other special activities for young golfers also are offered during the summer.
“More and more young people are playing golf, and the Myrtle Beach area is the ideal place for them to play,” Greene said. “This promotion makes it easy for families to plan their summer vacations and incorporate golf into those plans.”
The Golf Magazine containing the insert will be distributed to nearly 300,000 subscribers in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland, Delaware, and Washington, D.C.
Participating advertisers also will be listed on a separate response form in the insert as well as on Golf Magazine’s National Reader Service Page, which has a circulation of 1,400,000.
The promotion also will carry over onto the Internet. All advertisers will be promoted on a Family Golf Promotion Web page on myrtlebeachinfo.com, myrtlebeachlive.com,golfholiday.com, and northmyrtlebeachchamber.com, as well as on a Myrtle Beach Area Visitors’ page on AOL.
Additionally, news about the promotion will be distributed from a variety of sources via e-mail, including USAirways, Golf Online, GolfMagazineTravel, The Golf Channel, and Last Minute Travel, and others.
